43 an hour Auglaize County Corrections Center Full-Time Corrections Officer Position Description Incumbent is responsible for monitoring the safety, security, and care of the inmates while following accepted rules for movement and control.
Charged with completing and maintaining necessary paperwork for incarceration, intake and release of inmates.
Has the responsibility of transporting inmates as required both inside and outside of the facility.
Is under the supervision of the Correctional Supervisor.
Several priority areas of responsibility:
Receive shift recap from each shift.
Official head count on each shift.
Write reports.
Conduct walk through of all cell block; hourly at irregular intervals.
Perform close watch every 20 minutes.
On all inmates deemed mentally, physically, emotionally unstable or under the influence of substances of abuse.
Or any inmate that is on a disciplinary lock down.
Perform suicide watch every 10 minutes.
On any inmate that is a risk of self-harm.
Ensure that inmates are following all rules and regulations.
Communicate by phone or in person with various law enforcement personnel, families of inmates, probation officers, medical and legal personnel, social services, courts, and other professional staff.
Open and close all doors by key or touch screen.
Logging all movement in Central and Intake.
Respond to alarms.
Issue and collect razors from male and female inmates.
Issue and collect nail clippers from male and female inmates.
Serve and collect breakfast, lunch and supper trays from all inmates.
Issues medications up to four (4) times a day.
Supervise the issuing and using of cleaning supplies.
Contact all three (3) courts to verify scheduling; issue copies of completed and verified schedule.
Issue and collect towels and washcloths.
Issue and collect new and used uniforms.
Issue and collect new and used blankets and sheets.
Escort and supervise inmates for nurse and doctor call.
Collection, inspection and passing of incoming and outgoing mail.
Escort inmates to and from various group sessions, clergy sessions, counseling sessions, attorney meetings, classes, probation meetings, haircuts, library, etc.
Conduct hour outs for inmates on disciplinary lock down.
Conduct recreation for all inmates.
Assist in all Video Arraignments.
Apply and remove restraints from inmates coming to or leaving the facility.
Ready inmates for transportation to other facilities.
Court ordered urine screens.
Conduct pat-down/showers of all incoming inmates; done by same sex officer.
Complete computer and paperwork for bookings and releases.
All other duties included in the day to day operations of the Auglaize County Corrections Center.
